Review: Firelight
Review: Firelight by Sophie Jordan
Firelight is a story about a dying race of draki (draki = humanish beings who descended from dragons way back when). As a general rule, this kinda thing is really out of my realm. I mean, I like paranormal, but people who morph into dragon like creatures? Not something I would normally be able to appreciate. That being said, I absolutely adored and devoured this book. I read it in less than 24 hours, and loved every second of it. The main character, Jacinda is proud of her heritage, she embraces it, loves it. Her twin sister? Not so much... Mostly because her twin sister has some issues in the history of her draki roots... And life doesn't seem fair (because it's not).
Draki are hunted for their skins, for their blood, for everything - by humans, which only complicates the fact that when pulled from everything she knows and loves (okay maybe not always loves), Jacinda falls for a human. A hunter.
The story is gripping, heart wrenching, and totally relatable... Not because we are all related to dragons, but because we can all relate to our heritage being something that people don't like - and there being absolutely nothing we can do about it.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series! You should definitely check it out!
You can buy the books at most retailers... and stay tuned, because I'll be meeting Sophie on the Darkest Days tour... maybe I'll bring you back some goodies.

ReplyDeleteThis book keeps you guessing and it does not follow the cookie cutter story type. It is a fast and very enjoyable read. So glad that I found this book.
